In my book & with my nails that's a pretty standard wearing time. This one (shade 222 to be exact) lasted two days without chipping, went a day with tip wear and then started to peel off on day four. As usual I can't really comment on longevity as some cult favourites don't even last a day on me because of the sometimes pretty dire state of my nails. With Spring nearing closer I've been eyeing those soft pale pink shades, but as you know I am a huge fan of blackened colours as well. There's a good variety between all fifteen shades to make sure everyone finds something they love - from pale whites to various pinks and several darker shades. Don't feel too bad for us though, we're used to getting a slightly smaller lineup. There are fifteen shades available in Belgium, although you'll find more in other (bigger) countries. I also found the drying time to be very reasonable, even when applying several coats. The wide brush is super easy to use and distributes the colour quickly and evenly. The pigmentation should be top notch for all colours - although in reality I do find that not all of these shades can be used with just one coat, some even need three - with a super glossy finish. What color appeals to you the most? Let me know XO.Key words for this launch are pigmentation, nourishing properties & usability. For only € 12.00 you have 4 nail polishes of good quality. Like I said Bol.com has a nice deal right now, 2 + 2 free on L’Oréal products, also nail polish. The collection consists as much as 81 colors and I’ve tested 4 different colors.Ģ02 Marie Antoinette is a pretty soft pink color which is quite transparent, transparent is beautiful and gives just a little more shine and care for your nails but if you want completely coverage you need three layers (as shown).Ģ44 Green Lol, I personally think green nail polishes are totally amazing and this color is very fresh, covers beautiful in two layers.Ħ13 Blue Reef, a beautiful blue color that actually covers all in one layer, but above I’ve applied 2 layers t o get a more intense effect.Ĥ04 Scarlet Vamp, truly a Vamp color and red is always beautiful, this color remains relatively transparent and for good coverage I had to apply three layers. Because of the small size, they also have a small price namely € 5.99 each. The nail polishes come in a mini bottle of 5ml, this is a nice size to carry in your toilet bag and last a long time. Due to the gel base the polish is shockproof and stays extra long on your nails. The nail polish has a pleasant working brush and applies quite easily without giving stripes, also the paint dries quickly so you can quickly apply a second layer. The good thing about this polish is that you do n’t need to use a topcoat because these nail polishes have an integrated topcoat and they all give a nice shine to your nails. The gold cap has become more stylish, previously the name of the brand was put on the cap with a sticker but now “L’Oreal Paris” is processed into the shell itself, much nicer. The nail polishes come in nice glass vials with a gold cap. These super beautiful nail polish from L’Oréal have been around for a while but I still need to bring it to the attention, firstly because every nail polish lover should try these (if you have n’t already done so) and second because they now have a nice deal at Bol.com, 2 + 2 free so you can immediately try several colors.

It’ll also happen on occasion in wind instrument music for orchestra or band when the composer wants both high and low versions of the melody played. It sometimes happens on the piano when they want one hand doubling the melody. With this mark, the highlighted melody or line needs to be played both as written AND up one octave. What Does Con 8va Mean In Music?Ĭon 8va is a rare musical symbol that translates to “with octave.” If you’re on an instrument unfamiliar with bass clef, it’ll actually hinder you from reading it. Yes, bass clef would be easy to read here, but another reason to avoid switching clefs is familiarity. What Does 8vb Mean In Treble Clef?īy a similar token, if you see the 8vb sign in treble clef, it means to play down one octave. While it does seem easier to simply switch the clef to treble clef and read it normally, this may not be practical if it’s only happening for a short period. The 8va sign still means to play up one octave or 8 notes in bass clef. Commonly Asked Questions What Does 8va Mean In Bass Clef? The bass clef covers the low end of the piano well enough it’s not needed. You’ll rarely see this written as 15mb or 15ma bassa. It stands for the phrase quindicesima, which means 15 notes higher.ĭespite the number, it doesn’t actually want you to play only 15 notes higher you need to play two octaves higher. I’ve been playing music for almost 20 years now, and I still use it to help me learn new songs (and it’s fun too!).Ĭlick to learn new songs with Flowkey! If the composer, arranger, or transcriber wants both hands to be up or down, they’ll use the phrase “both hands” to let you know. The right-hand plays the top staff (treble clef most of the time), and the left-hand plays the bottom staff (bass clef most of the time). The octave sign only applies to the staff if it’s by. Piano being the instrument with the most accessible range, it uses octave signs all of the time.Īll the rules we talked about before do apply to the piano, but many people will ask if this symbol applies to both hands when you see it. Tuba Octave Signs For Piano: 8va And 8vb Symbol.Usually, you only see this on instruments with extremes in their range. Using the octave signs saves room for writing and lets you read the notes in a place where you’ll instantly recognize the note. When you play really high or really low, you need to use little lines called ledger lines to show the notes.Īfter a couple of these, it gets harder to read. If all this seems confusing, octave signs were actually invented to help you. ***The main difference here is that the number, 8, has no “va” or “vb” to tell you whether to play up or down. **8vb and 8va bassa always mean the same thing. *It doesn’t matter if the marking is above or below the music if you see the “va” or “vb.” Here are a few of the variations of the octave signs you may find: What you see What it means 8va with bracket* or dotted lines Play up an octave until bracket is done 8vb or 8va bassa** with bracket* or dotted lines Play down an octave until bracket is done 8va with a note in parenthesis Play a single note up one octave 8vb with a note in parenthesis Play a single note up one octave 8va or 8vb with dots followed by loco Play all notes up or down an octave until the word loco, then play as written 8va or 8vb with other marks until the word loco Play all notes up or down an octave until the word loco, then play as written The number 8*** with dots written above the staff Play all notes below the dots up one octave The number 8*** with dots written below the staff Play all notes above the dots down one octave You might see dots or boxes or none at all. Other times, you’ll go on for a whole phrase. Sometimes, you’ll only use the marking for a single note. How To Know If 8va Or 8vb Is For A Single Note Or The Whole PhraseĪs simple as this sounds, composers and arrangers don’t always use the markings in the exact same way. Instead, you’ll have to use or read the 8va bassa marking. Most notation software use 8vb, but some that are strictly based out of the U.S. Now, it’s accepted everywhere, though not as common still in Europe. Interestingly, 8vb is a term that only started showing up when classical music started to rise in America. Over time, this was shortened to 8vb or 8ba. When we want to play notes one octave below, composers use the term 8va bassa or ottava bassa. Multiply the amount of hours worked in both roles by hourly rates.ĭetermine the sum of the total wages from these positions to figure out the total amount compensated.Ģ. You can follow these steps for calculating overtime with two different pay rates:Ī. It gets its name because a weighted average of two different pay rates is used to determine the overtime rate. Yes, blended overtime is often referred to as weighted or weighted average. Is Weighted Overtime the Same as Blended Overtime? Confused? Understandable – so let’s dig deeper. You may have employees that perform different duties or tasks at different rates. However, this becomes more complicated for employers that have employees that work different jobs at different rates. When is a Blended Rate Required?įor most employers, calculating overtime is straightforward: employees receive one-and-a-half times their regular rate of pay for all hours worked over 40. A “blended rate” is a rate of not less than one-and-a-half times the weighted average of all non-overtime rates used during that workweek. The federal government’s Fair Labor Standards Act requires that when work is performed at two or more rates, overtime must be paid out at a blended rate. However, for some employees, the employer may need to use a blended or weighted average rate to accurately pay the employee. In most instances this is pretty straightforward. According to the Fair Labor and Standards Act (FLSA), employees working over 40 hours should be paid at 1.5 times their regular wage. In general, overtime is defined by any time an employee works beyond a standard 40-hour work week. This allows for two people to use this bathroom at once - making it great for a shared kid’s bathroom - with some built-in privacy. You can easily get two nice sinks in a more public area, and then have a pocket door into a toilet and bath/shower room. With this plan, you commit to the idea of one plumbing wall, but then extend the bathroom (and hopefully widen it) a bit. I won’t hate on you for going down this road, I promise. I’ll be honest, I don’t love it, but I understand the value, and it can sometimes be a good solution. The other tweak to this one is the “banjo” top which has a smaller countertop extension above the toilet. And - wow - I just typed the phrase “bathroom powerhouse” - I’m checking off life milestones left and right today. Still, it is a classic and always a bathroom powerhouse. However, that efficiency comes with the downside that the room isn’t all that special, and it has limited counter space. There’s an efficiency in plumbing cost, as all the plumbing is on one wall. This is an efficient bathroom, and, it just plain works. These bathroom floor plans are simple, efficient, and basically get the job done with no extra fanfare. Lesson 1: Start with the Basics – Standard, and “The Banjo” Alternate It is around 40 square feet (5’ x 8’) and here are the typical rules of thumb for how it works. This is the good old “three-in-a-row” bathroom we’ve all seen. (If you'd like to learn more about either of these, let us know, we’d be happy to elaborate in a new post!) Rules of Thumb for Bathroom Design Lesson 1: Start with the Basics Also, bathrooms in multifamily buildings (like apartments) are a whole different ballgame due to accessibility rules. Bathrooms with just a toilet and a sink, known as powder rooms, are a different animal altogether, and not covered in this post. We’ll look at bathrooms with a shower (¾ bath), or bathrooms with a tub (full bath), or even combinations of both. Side Note: This post covers the basics for single-family residential bathroom design. So, in the selfless interest of trying to make the bathrooms of America a little better, read on for some standard rules of bathroom design. When planning a bathroom (either when building new or remodeling) there are plenty of rules of thumb to follow for bathroom layout. Weird-shaped rooms angled tubs, toilets, showers and generally, spaces that are just plain awkward - these all seem to be hallmarks of poorly-designed bathrooms. I’ve been in enough homes over the years to observe that designing and laying out a bathroom is apparently a tough nut to crack for a lot of American production builders.
